Quote of the Day

Happy New Year!!!

"You have permission to rest.

You are not responsible for fixing everything that is broken.

You do not have to try and make everyone happy.

For now, take time for you.

It's time to replenish."

~unknown

My best friend reminded me of this tonight because I was having a trying evening. Truer words haven't been spoken, at least to me, in a long time.

Motivation Android App: Review

I found a new app for my Android phone; it is called Fabulous: Motivate Me. This app is colorful and interactive; a useful tool. According to Google Play, it is helpful for the following: resetting your habits, transforming your life, and unlocking your potential.

I've worked with it for a few days, and I think it gets an A+!

There are goals in different categories and for different times of the day. You can choose whether or not to set reminders. Using a 'holistic approach', this app will get you on track in the vital areas of your life in a fun and engaging manner.

Try it!

Quote of the Day

Of course I had to put a quote from the marvelous Oprah Winfrey about the very topic of my last blog

I am thankful for

I Am Thankful For...

At this time of year, social media is loaded with thankfulness quotes, memes, and posts. This is all well and good, however it bears thinking further on this. Are these people actually more thankful at this traditionally thankful time of year, or is it just fashionable to say we are thankful and so we do?

Not only is social media slathered with this topic; but the conversation heard at work and in social and home life is full of it as well during the holiday season. It begins around the first of November and continues until around the end of December; if it lasts that long. That is when the attitudes and the conversation changes drastically.

The conversation changes to worrying about bills from overspending, expanding waistlines, and a million other things. People forget all about how thankful they are for their children, their life, and the air they breathe every day. It is suddenly not 'necessary' to be thankful because the season doesn't warrant it.

This is not to say the things people worry about, stress over, and are bothered by are not real and important. They probably are. The point is that people manage to be thankful and have good spirits during the holidays even though these same things probably exist at this time as well. Would it not make sense that the power of positive thinking could help people to be thankful for the blessings that most definitely exist all year round?

Yes, definitely so.

1st Yoga Class

This morning I attended my first yoga class since beginning my quest for health. It was amazing! The instructor was fabulous. She noticed I coughed during one pose and told me that yoga would really help with my bronchitis and my asthma. I could feel the garbage in my chest loosening up as we did some poses. It feels so much better now. We did a deep meditation at the end, and I couldn’t feel more relaxed and at peace.

I just can’t wait until my next class tomorrow!

Quote of the Day

Dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you're willing to pay the price.

Alive

One of my new favorite bloggers, Chris Guillebeau, sent me an email today that inspired me. This is nothing new as his website, The Art of Non-Conformity, usually does inspire me. This particular email really made me think today. The very last line asked me the question, “What can you do to feel more alive today?”

I started thinking on that very question. What can I do? I have been struggling with bronchitis for about a month. Anyone on antibiotics and steroids knows that after a month, it gets a bit much. So, I am more than ready to feel alive.

Chris’s email entitled The Sense of Being Alive encouraged me to just do something! I have goals, of course. I have a plan to start yoga at the gym on Thursday. I am going to the Farmer’s Market on Sunday. But, what can I do today?

I made a couple decisions to that end. First, I will blog about this and link to Chris’s site because I really enjoy what he writes and it always lifts me up. I want it to lift you up too. Second, I will spend some time this evening practicing some yoga poses all on my own.
