A Mission of Health

I used to be a tiny wisp of a woman. In my 20’s I weighed around 125 pounds. My weight went up and down dramatically during my late 20’s and again in my early 30’s. I went on a health kick in my late 30’s where I was down to a size 3/5 and looked great.

At the age of 45, I am at a whopping 180 pounds. Most of the time, I don’t worry about it. I feel attractive, and I am happy. There’s only one problem. I am not healthy.

I do not desire to be 125 pounds again. 145 pounds would be a much healthier and safer weight for me. I am aware that being overweight is a huge risk factor for disease. Obesity has been linked to most major diseases. I want to be around for many more years to raise my daughter.

The average woman is what health officials would consider overweight. Obesity is an epidemic in our country. The thought occurred to me that asking my readers to join me on a quest for health is the most encouraging and inspirational thing I could ever do.

I will not do this perfectly. I know this. I will have peaks and valleys in this journey. This is my way of both helping others and making myself accountable at the same time.

Tomorrow I will share my plan of attack to get my body healthier. Will you join me?

Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.
~Walt Disney~

I'm Thinking Positively. Now What?

Is positive thinking a magic act? Can you think you’ll have a million dollars and then sit around waiting for it to land in your lap? What is the trick to this positive thinking thing?

If only obtaining loads of money or the perfect job was that easy! Positive thinkers would be much more plentiful. There is a catch most of the time. I say most of the time because sometimes a person can think good things into happening with no other effort. They focus on it, believe it, and it happens. This is a small percentage of the time.

Ever hear of the saying by Andrew Carnegie, “Anything in life worth having is worth working for.”? Well, it is quite true. Working for something has an added benefit. It gives that success value. It suddenly means so much more than something just dropped into your lap.

A very successful woman, Oprah Winfrey, said, “The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work.” I disagree with Oprah about there being a secret. Thinking about things in your life in a positive manner is a pretty big secret. However, she nailed it when she said, “…if you are willing to work”. You might be thinking that if you were going to have to work for something anyway, then who cares if you were thinking positively about it or not. Work is work. Not so.

A negative thought pattern will kill your motivation, and you will most likely
not be working nearly as hard or smart for your goal. Positive thinking, however, will keep you driven and passionate.

As for the hard work, you have to make things happen! They may happen easier for you now that you are not blocking them with negative thinking. However, you still have to do the work to make it so. If you want a great new job, for example, you can try to just sit at home watching television and think you’ll get one. The chances are so much better if you vamp up your resume and put yourself out there to be seen for interviews and meetings.

The same scenario would apply if you were looking to start a new relationship. Could you just stay in your house every day thinking you’ll meet Mr. or Mrs. Right? You could. Wouldn’t your chance of success be greater if you got out and socialized and made room in your life for a new love?
It is all about doing the work involved to make the desired changes in your life. Your destiny, your future is in your hands every day. You decide if you will make more money, lose 20 pounds, gain a new love, or get that promotion.

Think positive and then make it so!

Attitude

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.” ~Henry Ford~

The key to your success is YOU. Your attitude about each thing you attempt to do will make it or break it. Believe you will succeed. Be positive of your success. Do not doubt it for one minute. Your chances of achievement are so much greater than if you start doubting yourself.

When you think negatively, you are sending out negative energy to the Universe like little negative feelers. Those negative feelers or vibes will find their way right back to you and they will bring friends. At the very least, you will acquire an enormous amount of stress, and who needs that? Additionally, worry is very bad for your physical and mental health.

On the other hand, positive thinking is good for you! Right off the bat, you will probably eliminated stress-related health issues. Your mood will be improved, and I promise you will smile more. As your self-confidence goes up, it becomes like a snowball effect. You will feel better, be happier, and become more successful. This, in turn, turns up the volume in the self-esteem department. And round it goes.

It goes without saying that positive feelers and vibes going out into the Universe will come back just as easily as the negative ones did. And yes, they have and will bring friends too!

So believe in you! Use phrases like “I can”, “I will”, and other positive words. Do not spend all your time complaining and worrying about life. Be appreciative and happy for the good things and more good things will come your way. Make it so!
